Founded in 1954, Potamkin Automotive Group has grown into one of the largest car dealer groups in the country.
Beginning in 1954, Victor Potamkin quickly opened three high volume Chevrolet dealerships. Joined in 1970 by his sons Robert and Alan, the family opened New York City’s exclusive Cadillac dealership and began an aggressive expansion. By 1987, Potamkin was noted to be the largest auto dealer in the United States, with 41 franchises selling over 76,000 cars. To date, Potamkin Automotive has had over 100 franchises. Our core philosophy is that each location should be operated by a General Manager who is an equity participant at that dealership. This concept assures long term customer satisfaction, employee stability and consistent manufacturer relationships.
